There are many different breeds of chickens, ranging in size, color, and personality. Some breeds are kept for their meat, while others are kept for their eggs or some just as pets! Our chickens here on the farm are heritage breeds that we keep for eggs! They lay a wide range of coloured eggs with the most eggs being laid in the spring/summer + fall months. As the light cycles change so do the chickens laying habbits, with most chickens taking the winter months off from laying!
Geese are a type of waterfowl that are closely related to ducks. They are larger than ducks and have longer necks and a distinctive honking call. There are several different breeds of geese, each with their own unique characteristics. Like chickens, geese are kept for their meat, eggs, and feathers. Geese are very loyal birds, mating for life and can have big personalities. They are often extremely curious birds, always up for exploring new things! Here at the farm we have Sebastopol + Dewlap Toulouse Geese.
Indian runner ducks are a domestic duck that are prolific egg layers.
